Media Narratives around racism and UKIP

In case people are too lazy to read the whole thing. UKIP advocate immigration from India, Ghana, Jamaica, not just the EU. They promote the commonwealth. UKIP wish for good relations with Israel. Nazism is built upon Jewish hatred. It spirals into one race in one country no race mixing, no homosexual activity, it's the ideology seen from 1940's Germany. It's totally incompatible & nonsensical to link with UKIP..however the BNP do fit that bill. The only connection is that some BNP supporters or voters have switched to UKIP...why? Well read on.

So there are always race angles & racist angles surrounding UKIP. Pretty much all of them are misleading or misinformation. However you cant really grasp that if you don't fully appreciate what is actually going in each circumstance, so let me give an overall breakdown because I understand this subject and area pretty well.

So first lets start with a story I read in the independent that 1 in 9 UKIP voters for this election voted for the BNP in the last election, Now first of all this is simply untrue. I worked it out and at most it's about 1 in 12 but anyway......

So why would people who voted for a racist party vote for UKIP? Does it mean UKIP are racist thus attract racist voters? Which is definitely the narrative attempted to be portrayed here....

No. Logically, racist people could have an issue they care about and see a party that best deals with that, it's totally irrelevant that potentially racist people could vote UKIP, because racist people will be voting Conservative and Labour and whoever else too. The idea is white people can be racist and thus white racists will be more prone to voting UKIP, however anyone can be racist, so who are brown racists voting for? Who are black racists voting for? Probably Labour? So does that make Labour racist?

Now to explain the BNP thing properly. The BNP are a Nazi group. They are essentially national socialists. They see Jews as the root of all evil. They believe Jews created immigration, encourage race mixing, encourage porn & homosexual stuff(they genuinely do) They are white supremacists to an extent(although you can have national socialists in any country, it's an ideology) So national socialism in Ghana would be similar except swap whites for blacks.

Anyway the BNP believe and say all these things & have flimsy logic and evidence to support it to people. But mostly they give leaflets and propaganda about immigration and actual issues that some people do have concerns with, so on the surface sometimes they can appear like they make sense.

Now a lot of working class Labour voters were hit hard by mass immigration, they felt like Labour abandoned them, forgot them, they saw problems in the community, some had the Islamic child grooming issue in the cities, and they saw Labour turning a blind eye and being too PC. So they looked for an alternative, and on the surface the BNP ticked some boxes.  So in 2010 the BNP got a huge rise in support in numbers, mostly ex Labour voters. It led to  the Conservatives calling Labour a ''BNP offshoot''
http://www.politics.co.uk/news/2010/4/29/bnp-is-labour-offshoot

Now if you surround yourself with BNP supporters or Nazis, they eventually will start trying to brainwash you or encourage you to follow their other beliefs, not just that say...... Radical Islam is a problem or immigration needs to be severely cut,.... but that Jews are evil or white people should be the only race in 'white countries' and thus if you are young, or impressionable or simply angry with life some people can be open to this or may start to believe it. Hence Labour failing so many people actually created racism here, it led to people joining a racist party & young people being taken in by racists.

Now the BNP in the UK is essentially a money making racket for some shady characters, they use the ideology of Nazism and white pride to charge extortionate membership fees & it usually benefits only a small number of people. They're set up to profit from exploiting people, and the more racist people the more money they can extract, so they have a vested interest in making people believe their propaganda as well. But still even some who half knew that and didn't agree, would still register a vote for the BNP as a desperation protest vote.

So then UKIP rose to prominence. And they took away the immigration issues from the BNP, Suddenly immigration you associated with UKIP...they were totally non PC, they said what needed to be said, and UKIP were a mainstream party now(this is 2013/14) they actually weren't some fringe small party, they were polling much better and had huge support. So now many of these Labour voters who weren't racist but simply moved to the BNP often out of desperation or ignorance...have an actual party they can join that is not racist...and actually still deals with those concerns they had.

So UKIP have gained many voters that used to vote BNP, but they're mostly not the racist ones, they're mostly the ex Labour voters who voted the BNP for the first time in 2010.....And while Labour drove people to a racist group, UKIP took people away from a racist group.

Now the actual serious Nazis who are racist, most of them will still be voting BNP. http://www.bnp.org.uk/news/national/why-i-will-not-vote-ukip The BNP are forecast to get 200-350k votes still. If you venture onto the BNP website around UKIP views, they hate UKIP. They view UKIP in the same way most of the far left do. They are also furious Farage said ''The BNP can go to hell'' and ban BNP members. So actual Nazis and loyal BNP members despise UKIP.

So while the narrative is that racists are voting for UKIP....I hope this helped you understand that it's really a distortion of reality to a large extent, and in fact UKIP are helping eradicate racism by taking people out of the clutches of a racist party both now and in the future, and the opportunist smearing, branding & false labeling by the other parties(supporters of them too) or media is purely done so to demonize UKIP because of course they are rivals, it is rarely done in true faith, sometimes it is ignorance, and that is understandable, however I hope this clears it up.
